Not a few people here in the bleakest and coldest month of the year (February) wish they could be somewhere with warmer skies. And that holds true for me as well, despite the fact that I live in Portugal. Even in southern Europe, temperatures can be extremely low, with temperatures as low as 10 degrees Celsius per day being experienced on occasion. I understand – it’s a difficult life!
Despite the fact that I consider myself fortunate to live in such an exotic country as Portugal, I find myself daydreaming about traveling to even more exotic locations. Regardless of where you are in the world, the brain is always on the lookout for opportunities to travel. And that is also true of life in Portugal, where it is not impossible to go to the beach in February if one chooses not to stay indoors.
If you’re looking for a little inspiration for an exotic getaway from the grayness of your everyday life back home in Denmark, you might be interested in the following five cool journeys that I’ve always wanted to go on but have never had the opportunity to.
Based on my many years of experience with Denmark’s long, dark winters, I understand how desperate some people may be to get away from the country. One time, I took out a short-term loan in order to travel to the United States for a 14-day discovery trip, during which I stayed exclusively in luxury hotels, including the 5-star Waldorf Astoria in New York.
In hindsight, it may not have been the best decision, but I have no regrets about my decision at all. I am well aware of how critical it was for me to maintain my positive outlook throughout my life. By the way, if the five destinations listed above aren’t enough, I have a large collection of exotic locations to offer you, but shouldn’t we just take a look at what we have?
The Dominican Republic is a Country in Central America
On Momondo the other day, I happened to be sitting by chance and lurking for plane tickets when Punta Cana appeared out of nowhere. I thought it sounded otherwise exotic enough, but I couldn’t find it anywhere.
Punta Cana is a tropical haven nestled among the Caribbean islands, and it is a must-see. Perhaps you’ve heard of the Dominican Republic before?
Even though I don’t know much about the country, a little superficial research has persuaded me that it is a fantastic travel destination, where you will discover an exciting culture that goes beyond white sandy beaches and an abundance of colorful cocktails.
Tulum is Known as Mexico’s “Exotic Jewel.”
Tulum has risen to become a hugely popular destination for those looking to escape to the essence of a delicious summer vacation as a result of an immediate targeted campaign across all fashionable icons on Instagram.
To be sure, Tulum is a battleground for Instagram-friendly Airbnbs as well as hotels and restaurants, not to mention a slew of scenic spots such as the above cave, where you can channel your inner savage from the year 2019.
Tulum is a fascinating destination because the area is home to an ancient culture that dates back to the time when people used to send letters by knocking on rocks and rolling them down a hill.
Peru is the Ultimate Bucket-List Destination
There are some interesting journeys. Then there are the trips of a lifetime. Peru is included in the latter group of countries. Peru has been on my bucket list for a couple of years now, primarily because it appears to be an eternally beautiful country with a plethora of things to see and do.
In this case, of course, we’re talking about nature, which is one of the things that I find most appealing. There is nothing that can compare to the experience of standing on the summit of a mountain and gazing into a majestic splendor that no photograph or video can adequately capture and convey.
Machu Picchu is just one of the incredible sites that the world has to offer. Other Peru destinations to consider include Rainbow Mountain and Capsule Hotel, both of which are absolutely must-see destinations.
I believe Peru is the only country in the world where I could get a consumer loan in a matter of minutes.
I’ve had this idea for a long time. It was a mistake to borrow money for things like television and other entertainment, but it is travel and experiences that make life memorable in the long run. So screw it if you have to work a bunch of extra Sunday shifts to make up for the cost of the trip back.
Byron Bay and the Rest of Queensland are Located in the State of Queensland
My boyfriend and I spent two months in the amazing country of Australia in 2018. We took a long road trip from Melbourne all the way up to Queensland, which almost reaches the equator and was absolutely breathtaking.
However, visiting Byron Bay, which is an interesting hangout for creative souls who adhere to the boho aesthetic to a tee, was the highlight of our journey above all else.
No matter what it was, the entire atmosphere, people, laid-back restaurants and bars with live music, white sand beaches with accompanying glorious weather, and white sand beaches with accompanying glorious climate made everything seem to go up in a higher unit.
Due to circumstances, we were only in Byron Bay for a few days, but it is undoubtedly one of the places I would like to visit again. Furthermore, we created a video log from the location, which gives a sense of the setting and its distinct atmosphere.
Bali, Bali, Bali, Oh Bali!
I’ll never get tired of this magnificent island that I’ve come to love. My first visit to the island in 2015 was my third, and I have spent a total of nearly three months on the island, covering the majority of the island’s terrain. After all, I’m the type who prefers to visit new places because it’s always more interesting to see something different, especially now that Mother Earth has so much to offer.
Some trips, however, are not required to be discovery trips. It is acceptable to go with what is comfortable and familiar.
Bali is, in my opinion, the ultimate destination for feeling liberated. You can rent a scooter for 30 kroner per day, and otherwise you can just drive around on the jungle-green roads that are thin. Stop at one of the small warungs for a delicious meal for only 10 kroner. And, yes, how about taking a bath in your very own waterfall?
Additionally, in Bali, you will come across numerous hip Airbnbs, where you will get excellent value for your money. I’ve rented some outlandish villas where I’ve pretended to be a regular king. In fact, it is precisely for these reasons that I intend to return to Bali in 2019.
Check out some of our Bali videos if you still aren’t convinced that Bali is the right destination for you. They should be able to persuade you.
